Fortunately, Florida has many women-only rehab centers designed to treat the specific needs of women battling addiction.
The truth is that addiction affects women differently than men, which is all the more reason why professional help is critical to ending dependency. According to a 2012 survey conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, of the more than 64,000 patients reported in treatment, 39 percent were women. More than 16,000 patients sought treatment for opiates, and of that number, approximately 52 percent were women.
