Teen Alcohol And Drug Rehab Centers In Massachusetts

Many teenagers in high school are put in a position where they are pressured to use drugs or alcohol in order to fit in with those around them. This pressure can quickly escalate and leave a teen battling with addiction. Fortunately, Massachusetts offers several teen treatment programs to help get them back on track.
According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), Massachusetts adolescents aged 12 to 17 had one of the highest rates of illicit drug use of any state. In 2013 and 2014 there were 11.68 to 16.82 percent of teens who reported using illicit drugs in the last month. That figure is staggering, and it’s little wonder that the rate of teens who stated they needed but did not receive treatment for illicit drug use in the past year was 2.56 to 3.25 percent.
Again, this percentage is among the highest in the US. A common factor for using illicit drugs as a teen is depression. How many teens in Massachusetts reported having a major depressive episode in 2013? That figure is 8.6 percent. Finding ways to treat teens who are dealing with drug and alcohol addiction and abuse, as well as those with dual diagnoses of mental health disorders, is paramount for Massachusetts.
