The medical plans that Cigna offers to residents remains somewhat consistent throughout the nation. On that note, Cigna typically offers a range of health plans, from high deductible ones to low deductible ones, and then several in between.

For instance, one of Cigna’s most popular high deductible plans is the Vantage Flex 6400, which offers a $6,400 individual annual deductible and an annual family deductible that is double that. Under this plan, both primary care and specialist visits – other than preventative care – aren’t covered until you hit your deductible, and even after that there are still out of pocket costs.

While the Flex 6400 is an example of a high deductible plan, one of the most popular low deductible plans that Cigna has to offer is the Vantage Flex 1900, which offers an annual individual deductible of $1,900 and annual family deductible that’s double that. Unlike high deductible plans, the deductible is waived under this plan for non-preventative primary care and specialty office visits, yet members do have to pay co-pays.

Cigna Healthcare Plans for Rehabilitative Treatment

Under Cigna’s healthcare umbrella, medical coverage isn’t considered to be the same thing as substance abuse recovery and mental health treatment. For this reason, some inconsistencies in coverage may be apparent, however it’s worth noting that most Cigna plans do at least partially cover this type of treatment. In fact, most Cigna healthcare plans cover the likes of group and individual counseling, detox, inpatient rehabilitative treatment and mental health treatment.

As far as the low deductible Vantage Flex 1900 goes, inpatient in-network care is covered, but members are still required to pay 30 percent of the costs following meeting the annual deductible. Out of network costs are not covered.

The high deductible Flex 6400 is a different story when it comes to mental health and substance abuse treatment. While out of network inpatient treatment services aren’t covered, similar to the Vantage Flex, in-network inpatient services are covered, yet members are still required to pay 40 percent of the costs after meeting the deductible.
