Rehab Centers That Accept Aetna Insurance in Rhode Island

Are you trying to find a way to cover the costs of substance abuse treatment for yourself or a loved one in Rhode Island? While choosing more affordable facilities and treatments can help, health insurance is another way to make treatment more affordable.

Medical PPO Plan

Aetna offers a Medical PPO plan for Rhode Island residents. This plan helps people going through substance abuse by offering coverage for various treatments. It covers short-term inpatient treatment of up to 60 days within a calendar year. You would be expected to invest more money in a long-term program of three  or more months. Expect to pay 0 to 30 percent after a confinement deductible or a certain amount per day for the first five days. You could opt for a nonparticipating provider, which would require you to cover 0 to 50 percent of the charge once the deductible is paid.

You could also choose outpatient substance abuse treatment as this treatment option does not require you to get pre-authorization. You would pay either a percentage of the charge after paying the deductible and/or a copay. The plan also puts a limit on the length of your treatment for outpatient care. It helps cover the cost of 20 to 52 visits during a calendar year. For a non-participating provider, you would cover 20 to 50 percent of the care.

If you have a mental disorder as a dual ith a substance abuse problem, you can get treatment. The coverage includes both inpatient and outpatient care for mental health needs. You would pay the same percentages as inpatient substance abuse care and the same percentage and/or copay as outpatient substance abuse care. While you don’t need pre-authorization for outpatient care, you do need it for inpatient services. You can also see a non-participating mental health provider if you choose to do so, for the same percentage as non-participating substance abuse providers.

Medical POS Plan

Another option in Rhode Island is a Medical POS plan, which is offered to some people under special circumstances. Like the PPO plan, it covers substance abuse and mental health concerns. The substance abuse coverage has the same time length limitations as the PPO plan. You can choose a non-participating provider for your health services, but you’ll have to cover more of the cost of care.

Authorization for inpatient care will also be necessary, but not for outpatient services. The plan might cover the whole inpatient treatment cost or you might be responsible for a percentage. For outpatient services, you would pay a copay of $5 to $65 per session.

Student Health Plan

Aetna also has a specialty Student Health Plan available in Rhode Island. This plan covers alcohol addiction with prior authorization necessary. Students would be expected to pay 0 to 50 percent of the fee after the maximum copay/deductible of $0 to $50. The cost is the same percentage for non-participating providers. This plan will cover up to three inpatient stays for detoxifying, which includes up to seven days for each stay. This plan will also cover court-ordered substance dependency or abuse treatment that is deemed medically necessary.

You can also get coverage for other types of substance abuse and mental health needs through this plan, whether you need inpatient or outpatient care. There is a $50 deductible for each treatment, and you need to have pre-authorization for care. Also, you have a limit of 30 outpatient visits per policy year, with the exception of visits for medication. In addition, your limit is five episodes or 30 days of detoxification within a policy year.
