Location
Eastman is located in Dodge County, Georgia. Known for its small-town charm, it is also small in size with only approximately 6,000 residents. You will travel close to an hour from the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon or one and a half hours from the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport in Albany. It is 5.10 square miles in size, but you will immediately be drawn in by its unique downtown area and the luscious parks.
Weather
The long spring, summer and fall seasons beckon you outdoors to compliment your healing and restoration. The Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department presents 50 acres with baseball fields, picnic areas, soccer fields and more. Other outdoor options include fishing for bass, bluegill, sunfish and more or take part in the annual “Peaches to the Beaches” festival and understand what the hype is surrounding those delicious Georgia peaches. Expect summer temps well into the 90s. In the spring and fall, you’ll need a light jacket with lows in the 40s, but daytime temps can still reach near 70.
Accommodations
During your outpatient therapy, select a nearby hotel in which to practice your new coping skills and enjoy quiet time. The Eastman-Days Inn and the Eastman motel are located near both treatment centers, which is close to downtown and a major super-center. The Dodge-Hill Inn is another choice, but on the opposite side of town.
Employment
If you need to work during recovery, or decide to remain in Eastman after program completion, consider a job in manufacturing, waste management or public administration as these fields employ the majority of Eastman residents. Other careers to look for include law enforcement, education and retail sales. If you are enjoy physical work, laborers, assemblers, and equipment handlers are also needed.
