Lompoc is a community of about 42,000 residents in northern Santa Barbara County. It is roughly 20 miles south of Santa Maria and is adjacent to Vandenberg Air Force Base. Substance Abuse In Lompoc & Santa Barbara County
The County of Santa Barbara established an extensive substance use disorder plan in 2017 which will last for five years. Some data to establish community needs for substance use disorder treatment and prevention include:

- The County saw more than 2,400 alcohol-related emergency room visits in 2014.
- More than 82,400 prescriptions for opioids were issued in Santa Barbara County in 2015.

Lompoc is in a relatively isolated area along the Central California coast. The community has two active substance use disorder organizations which operate residential, detox, and outpatient treatment programs in the community. Residents can access additional resources in Santa Maria or choose to travel farther south to Santa Barbara.
