There have been several law changes since 2011 in regard to prescription drug abuse in Maryland. In 2011, a prescription drug monitoring program was established in order to help prescribers and dispensers monitor prescription drug intake by a given individual. In 2013, the law was changed so that prescription monitoring data had to be reported in certain circumstances. Also in 2013, an Overdose Response Program was created in order to dispense naloxone when necessary to a person who may have overdosed on drugs.
