Tennessee Court Ordered Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers

The state of Tennesse offers several court-ordered treatment programs to men and women who have been convicted of drug-related crimes. These programs are designed to help individuals get their lives back on track while hopefully reducing the amount of drug-related crime.
Treating an addiction to drugs or alcohol requires an appropriate program. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, roughly 40 percent of Tennessee residents drink alcohol and 19 percent binge drink. Among young adults, the rates of alcohol use and abuse are greater than the overall average. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration explains that almost 38 percent of first-time arrests relate to alcohol abuse and 18 percent relate to illicit drug abuse.
When legal concerns arise after an individual abuses drugs or alcohol, court systems may mandate treatment. A court ordered treatment program focuses on the requirements of the court and helps with the recovery process.
Basics of Court Ordered Treatment
As the name implies, a court-ordered treatment program refers to any facility and program that works with the court system. When an individual commits a crime or is ordered into treatment by a court, he or she must work with an appropriate program or facility. Court-ordered programs are acceptable choices based on the requirements of the court. The National Institute on Drug Abuse states that a court-mandated program actually provides good results when compared to voluntary programs. The recovery rates are as good as or better than the rates in a voluntary program.
Since the court orders the treatment, individuals must comply with the requirements set by the court. For example, if a judge determines that an individual needs treatment at a long-term residential program, then that person must work with a treatment program that offers long-term care. In most cases, outpatient treatment is an appropriate option.
