A petition can be filed on behalf of the arrested person by a director of a rehabilitation facility, a family member, or a court administrator who has knowledge that the person is suffering from a mental condition. This involuntary treatment cannot exceed a 90-day time limit and be part of inpatient treatment, or be transferred from inpatient treatment to outpatient treatment or partial hospitalization if the person’s problems improve.
