Court-ordered addiction treatment is common in situations where a person is arrested for drug or alcohol related offenses. If a person is arrested for driving under the influence of some type of illegal drug, for example, a judge may order them to seek treatment in lieu of going to jail. Depending on the severity of the problem, this may be the exact action that a person needs to truly seek help for their issue and save their own life before it is too late.
It’s important to note, however, that just because a person has been ordered to go to a treatment or recovery facility does not necessarily mean that they will be able to avoid a jail sentence.
